Do you have a young at heart dog over 8 years old or cat over 10 years old?

It's natural that pets face more health risks as they age, just like us. So, as our animal clients get older, we like them to have regular health checks as it is very important to keep an eye out for any signs of ageing.

You will be able to discuss any problems you feel your pet has. We will perform a physical examination to identify and monitor:

  • Lumps and bumps
  • Obesity and weight-loss
  • Arthritis
  • Oral health

We will also test a sample of your pets urine to check kidney health. Please bring a fresh urine sample in a clear container to your appointment*.
Your pet's long-term health and wellbeing is our first priority so, if we are concerned with any of our findings, we will refer you onto a vet.
Just like us, the sooner we detect the start of any problems, the more we can do to help.

*Dog samples can usually be collected by keeping dogs on leads when taking them out and using a clean, shallow bowl to catch a sample. However, if you have trouble, you can purchase a ‘Uripet’ device from us for ease of collection. Cats are often a little trickier, however may urinate in an empty litter tray. Alternatively, a non-absorbent ‘Katkor’ litter collection kit can be purchased from us. The prices of these collection devices are less than £5 (subject to price increases) but save in excess of £33 should these tests be required outside of a geriatric nursing clinic.
