We are currently accepting applications for EMS placements at AAS– here’s some more information about what a placement might look like for you at our practice.

EMS student experience

We are happy to welcome EMS students at any stage in their training.

Opportunities available for EMS students and working hours

Our standard working days are 9am – 7pm, with consults in the morning 9am-10:30am and then again 4pm-7pm, with ops and workups and lunch in between. We are very happy to get students involved doing consults and ops.

What we expect from our EMS students and what they can expect in return

We have one vet with a surgery certificate, and 2 vets working towards certificates in exotics/zoological medicine and imaging. We are keen for students to be involved in all areas of the practice, including starting to conduct consultations where appropriate. All that we ask in return is that students are keen to learn and help!

Travel and accommodation

We would recommend driving and parking at the practice, however our branches are accessible by public transport by getting a bus/walking from either Stroud or Gloucester train station. We are unfortunately unable to offer any accommodation.

Are there any accessibility considerations that I might need to take into account at your practice?

AAS has an upstairs area with unfortunately no disability accommodations e.g. a lift.

We have a lunch/rest room upstairs for students to take a break/make lunch, and also an office that students can use to research cases etc. We have neurodivergent staff members so have experience with working in the vet industry as a neurodivergent individual.
